Mixing a hair system with hair
I'm wondering what your thoughts are on options for wearing a hair piece if you have quite a bit of diffuse hair left. Is it an option to shave it and then wear the piece or would that do too much damage? Also, what possibilities are there with a clip on piece?

I have the same questions, I have an appointment at a hair clinic. They are going to go over hair systems with me. I really want a full cap because I'm unhappy with the diffuse thinning and the fine hair on the sides of my head. I might just go for a 3/4 cap for now, but this coming Wed I have an appointment to talk with a specialist. I'm really exciting because I know hair systems today are amazing, and pretty much undetectable. I just need to know the right kind, style.. etc..

It's called an integration system. This is the solution many women go with if they do not respond to treatment - or while they are treating their hair loss.

I use a clip in topper for special occasions when I want to look the best I can. It attaches behind my hairline so it is completely undetectable.

This little trick works well if people with very thin hair. Movie stars have been doing this for years

Forgive me, but I don't quite understand.. Do you mean they get a hair transplant on just the hair line alone and wear a hair system to cover rest?

Hair pieces are very uncomfortable. We have a patient with decent hair on top but has a wide strip scar in the back he can't cover. He is currently wearing a hair piece on top and eventually wants to repair the scar and cut his hair very short.

I always thought Sean Connery had convincing looking hair pieces though.

I've heard otherwise. I had my appointment last week at a hair clinic. I was amazed, systems today look amazing. I ordered a partial hair system to cover my disgusting thinning top, I'm very excited to be able to have hair I can style and not always have to shave it short and rub concealer on my hair.

So after they explained everything to me I thought it was too good to be true.. and of course there was going to be a catch. The price for the system was expensive, I was expecting that.. but the cost for it to be maintained was much less than what I pay monthly for medication that can only slow my hair loss.

I'll wear a hair system, no problem. I've basically been wearing one with hair loss concealers... not really a difference except the fact that a system looks a hell of a lot better.

I'm not expecting a miracle, just an improved look that will help me deal with hair loss and let me focus on life more.

I will post pictures in 4-6 weeks when it arrives and has been cut in.

That depends on what you buy. If the prosthetic is properly fitted and well made it can be very comfortable. My topper is no more uncomfortable than wearing glasses. I actually do sometimes forget that I am wearing it.

You do not know that it can only slow down your loss. Many have stopped their loss and many regained hair that was lost. I don't understand why you are so insistent about ignoring that reality. But whatever makes you happy. Believe whatever you want to believe.

Once have a prosthetic that is properly fitted you can use that to get the same quality prosthetics elsewhere but you will need to learn how to clean and maintain them yourself.

After 7 years of propecia/rogaine/laser scam and recently Avodart.. and my hair loss has progressed more. Enough is enough, committed to a hair system and live my life.

Yes, if you have been treating your loss for that long and you are still losing ground, a hair system is probably a better option for you. There is nothing wrong with wearing hair if it helps you feel better about yourself.
