What a question, proscar and propecia are the same thing! just different dosage.

I thought as much, but have heard different things.

"Propecia and Proscar are not interchangeable. They contain different amounts of the same active ingredient."

    ...

Propecia = 1 mg of finasteride
Proscar = 5 mg of finasteride

both drugs are EXACTLY the same, it's just that you have to split proscar into five pieces if you want the same dosage as Propecia....

Clandestine im just curious did you make this thread after you listened to Spencers last broadcast? because I was going to do the exact same thing!

Everyone should listen to to it because he brought up some really good points. interestingly, he mentioned some of the discussions we have been having on this forum and brought up a point a fewpeople made. he was talking about those recent FDA warnings about finasteride (for both Propecia and Proscar) and is asking why are the warnings on Propecia so much stronger than Proscar?

    Quote:

    the warnings for Propecia were:

A revision to the Propecia label to include libido disorders, ejaculation disorders, and orgasm disorders that continued after discontinuation of the drug.

    the warnings for Proscar are:

A revision to the Proscar label to include decreased libido that continued after discontinuation of the drug.

Im wondering why this is the case? Its the complete opposite of the way it should be, in my mind. Proscar is a higher dose and there are WAY more men on it than on propecia. I think maybe this shows more truth in the case that maybe younger men are more sensitive to anxiety about their sexuality and the larger numbers could be explained by the placebo effect? this might count for some of this, but I really have no idea why it would be the case.

    any theories?

Over a 5 day period they are the same.

You might get a little more Fin in one section of Proscar and another however at the end of the day.

I think its basically only a matter of time until the Proscar tabs/packet has exactly the same warning. Like most things. Just a matter of time
