    Worth starting minox?
Is it worth starting minox if not on fin?

Not big on the idea that I would have to use it for life.

    Can minox maintain hair?

Anyone on /used minox in the past and now regret using it?

    Cheers

    These are the types of posts I'm curious about;

To my knowledge minoxidil does nothing to impede the MPB process. Instead it forces miniaturizing follicles to grow hair.
If you're determined to avoid DHT meds then you've basically got nothing to lose, so I don't see a problem with trying minox. If I was you I'd also try keto shampoo if you aren't already on it.

    Thanks for the reply.

In regards to DHT meds; I'm currently using a topical [sitosterol-based] 5-ard enzyme inhibitor. Basically beta-sitosterol applied locally to the scalp.

If you have thinning in your vertex and mid-anterior, maybe but it will not be as effective as it could be if used together with Finasteride.

It does not matter which current hair loss treatment you choose to use. You will still have to use whatever you choose for the rest of your life - or until a true cure is found. If you choose to do nothing to treat your hair loss, you will have to learn how to accept and live with your hair loss for the rest of your life. Which is worse to you?

Yes, for a while - but not as well as Finasteride.

There are many who have used it and regretted doing so. The vast majority of those people did not use it properly - or did not use it long enough to gain any benefit from it.

How fast is your mpb? If it's aggressive, then it's probably not worth it without FIN.

But if your mpb is gradual and you respond, it will certainly buy you time.

All of these drugs are for life unfortunately. I went off Minox back in the winter for 3 months and lost a bunch of hair in the back and a much much smaller amount in the front.

If you are worried about Fin consider using a lower dose and ramping up usage. That way you will know if you can tolerate it or not.

Just have to try it yourself mate. It hasn't worked for me after 14 months, I labour the point I know. Also, I used on hairline, which isn't recommended anyway. I took a chance, and a risk-ok I regret that now, but for some ppl apparantly it works fine around their hairline..

When I started taking Spiro, I had to start low and work my may up slowly over time as my doctor monitored my bloodwork. Different medication - but same concept. The bloodwork is probably pointless for guys though.

Just wanted to add a question to this thread.

I've recently started using minox (1 month - 22 years old) and came across some claims on the internet of minoxidil aging facial skin. Genetics have given me the dark area under the eyes, near the nose. I'm worried about minoxidil making this worse.

Does anyone have literature regarding minoxidil's effect on the face, or some pictures, even opinions?
