New study reveals Creatine causes an increase in DHT (It causes hair loss)

I've been taking creating since I started working out at age 18. I'm 23 now and once I heard about this, I stop using it because it terrified me. I used to have beautiful hair, a strong N0 just like my father but my right temples have been thinning at age 19. I'm currently at Norwood 1.5 or 2, not 100 percent sure. I used to take this 6 times a day and will work out 2 hours straight heavy lifting. I currently change my work out routine and only take when I lift weights, which is 4 times a week.

My question is, do you guys think creatine is a factor of hair loss in men that work out?

Interesting. Wikipedia has listed a few studies that claim creatine increases T, DHT and IGF-1 while decreasing myostatin. I didn't think creatine had any anabolic effects so now I'm confused. Never taken the stuff myself mind. I've seen the gym life and supplementation lead people from protein to creatine to anabolic steroids.

god, I guess I have to find other methods in motivating myself to work out. Working out natural when your trying to gain muscle mass is really difficult.

I know. I'm unable to put on any significant mass. I'm 185cm but I can only really put on maybe 3 kilos of muscle before I burnout and lose interest in the gym. It's far too hard but as long as I'm in good nick and fit and healthy I'm happy enough. The dietary sacrifices are not worth it for me personally as I love all different kind of foods and I'm unwilling to give them up for such a small aesthetic gain.

I seem to get a lot stronger when I lift but never significantly bigger muscle mass wise.

Yeah, its pretty difficult to maintain the diet, eating 3500 calories a day, 5 times a day. I kind off slack of and add a pizza to the mix when I shouldn't. lol Just need to force myself to work out..must work out....must ...for the ladies ;)

I took creatine for a little while but I didn't go through any hair loss with it.

I wouldn't be surprised if creatine increased testosterone levels, which could in turn increase DHT levels. If a person wants to become bigger and stronger, increased levels of testosterone can get them there. That's why men are bigger and more muscular than women, because of their increased levels of testosterone. I used to take creatine years ago and it helped a great deal in putting on muscle mass and getting me bigger and stronger. It didn't have any effect on my hair loss back then. However, when I started taking it again about a year ago, I believe that it did increase my shedding. But I wasn't going through hair loss then, and I am now. And ironically the reason that I went on creatine was to counteract the negative effects that I believed that finasteride had on my muscular structure and lifting. And this is what really frustrates me: I'm a big, muscular guy and I couldn't be this way if I didn't have higher levels of testosterone. Yet my hair is extremely important to me (I could not imagine living life as a bald man) so I really don't want to give up taking Propecia. I've heard plenty of people (including 1 hair transplant doctor's rep) say that finasteride limit the production of only DHT and not T, but since I believe that DHT and T are very similar in molecular structure so it is very possible for finasteride to limit levels of T as well as DHT. It really pisses me off because on one hand, I desperately want to keep the hair that I have and regrow some of the hair that I lost. On the other hand, I don't want to affect the production of male growth hormone in my body, especially when it's affecting my weight lifting, one of the few things that kept me sane through hair loss.
