    Young and balding
Hi, I just recently turned 20 and have been noticing a receding hair line for a few months now. It started in the summer and I felt like I was losing 70+ hairs a day. Now that number has gone down to around 40.

My forehead has always been large and ive always had slight indentations of my hairline at my temples, but I feel its getting worse. I saw a derm and he proscribed keto shampoo and said I could start minox (but I haven't started the minox yet). I am wondering what treatments you guys think I should try, and what you think my norwood classification would be.
    Thanks for the help

I'm in the exact situation as you, same age and always had a slightly large forehead, started noticing shedding in summer and was losing loads of hairs. I've been on Nizoral since September and started Propecia the end of September. It's only been 1 and a half months but I seem to be improving. I'd suggest just getting on Propecia, it also helps with peace of mind and helped me forget about hair loss... Obviously research Propecia first so you're prepared but a lot of people seems to make a big deal about how 'poisonous' it is, but I've been fine and don't think it's bad at all, it should help with maintenance. I personally wouldn't start Minox unless it gets noticeable and Finasteride is no help.

Being only 20 I cannot grow that much facial hair. And I would probably take fin if it wasnt for the fact that my facial hair would all but stop developing. I am still debating whether I should start it or not. Sad you cant have your cake and eat it too.

    Hello Rg3,
In my opinion you are 2A-3 according to Norwood scale. As about the treatment, the most effective in my opinion is Finasteride. Many men on this forum say that they regret for not starting using finasteride in their early ages when the problem occurred. That is why, if you wish to save what you have on your head, start the treatment as soon as possible.
As about the doctor, I always suggest to consult more than one doctor.
