Post-Op, can I shave my head?
Hello everyone.. I'm 31 and have been losing my hair since I was about 20. I'm looking into a HT but one of my concerns is my appearance after surgery. I'm a financial advisor and am unable to wear hats. After surgery would I be able to shave my head for 6 months or so and then let all my hair grow back once the HT has kicked in or will this stop the HT from being effective?

Often times, you will have your head shaved in preparation for a hair transplant procedure and it is possible to shave it immediately after, though best to wait about three weeks.

If you plan on shaving your head, I would definitely recommend you opt for a FUE procedure over a FUT or strip, which will leave you with a linear scar on the back of your head which will be quite apparent if you shave your head.

Dr. Cole also offers an alternative procedure he calls C2G, or CIT to Go (CIT- Cole Isolation Technique- is his proprietary FUE technique). This is an unshaven version of his CIT procedure which allows patients to return to work, even in the public eye, the very next day.

It really depends on several factors. How large of a session will you be having? Will you be doing strip or FUE? Will the new grafts be implanted in a completely bald surface area or will they be placed within exisiting thinning hair?
