Can propecia really work for AGGRESSIVE male pattern baldness?
Ok, so I have been on propecia for roughly 6 months and haven't noticed and continued thinning (i think?) but also have seen no signs of regrowth and my question is that - will propecia work for people who's hair is destined to completely fall out??... i mean, sure I've heard how its halted loads of mens hair loss but is that because they only had mild hair loss? or are there cases of it helping even the most severely predisposed to go chrome dome bald. The reason i'm questioning this drug is because the men in my family didnt just have a bit of gradual receding, they simply lost ALL of their in their ealry 20's so i'm feeling a bit skeptical that this drug is really powerful enough to prevent my fragile little folicules from being killed off.

I didn't see my results until around a year. It takes time. Check out patient results out here at IAHRS approved Dr.Berstein's webpage.

I understand your concern mate. In truth, the rate of progression is often hard to anticipate and genetics will indeed influence this. However, we do know that Propecia tends to work better on younger patients and that it's more effective the earlier you start. To use a very poor analogy, two trains may leave a station with one travelling faster than the other - If you attempt to stop the faster of the two, then the expended effort would need to be greater and would take more time, but you may acheive the same effect. In other words, don't let momentum gather and be consistent. I believe there is a hair dx test that can hypothesise a person's likely response to propecia. To my knowledge, one's ability to tolerate and have good lasting benefit from the drug is potentially of mutual exclusion to the "strength" of the balding gene. Also, there are new therapies in development. If you are serious about keeping your hair, then focus on tackling the problem today via medication and keep an eye out for future developments, which are indeed on their way.
