    DHT cleansing shampoos
Are there any shampoos that will cleanse DHT from my scalp, hence keeping hair in my head?

I already use Nizoral. I am considering Rogaine foam but don't like the fact that I will have to rely on it for ever.

Not a shampoo, but I'm reading that people have had success by using emu oil. Has anyone here tried that?

If you have hereditary hair loss, it does not matter what you use to try to treat it, you will still have to continue using whatever that is for the rest of your life. This is a reality you need to learn how to accept. Any company selling a treatment that claims or implies that you do not have to keep using it is lying. This is just the way it is.

another one of the biggest myths associated with baldness, sparked by the manufacturers and spread by forums, of course i cannot prove it is a myth though.

She's right. There isn't currently a proven MPB treatment that remains effective after you stop using it. Fin, dut, minox and keto all require continuous usage to stay effective.

I guess hair transplants would be an exception if you count those.

Edit: to the original poster, ketoconazole is currently the only shampoo that seems to have a positive effect on genetic male-pattern hair loss.

relying on a hair loss treatment
I understand that male pattern baldness cannot be cured but only treated. I'm just hoping that if I was to miss a day or two of treatment that it wouldn't be devastating.

Perhaps the best thing I can do is combine treatments -- for ex. nizoral, emu oil, and rogaine foam.

I wouldn't expect it to be devastating if you missed a day or two. But in general I'd try to avoid skipping days unless it's really necessary, especially when it comes to minoxidil (if it's temporary as part of a "tapering-up" period, that's fine)
Keto shampoo you'd only use 1 or 2 times weekly, so it's pretty easy to get all the doses even if you're off by a day or two.

And combining treatments does help. Fin and keto have worked well for me, and if I added minox I'd probably have more growth as well.
I don't know much about emu oil. I wouldn't expect much from it, but it shouldn't hurt either.

You will never be able to prove it is a myth - because it isn't a myth. It's the truth. It's reality.
