New Topical Finasteride: Anchoring liposomes at the skin level (serum levels: 1/18th)
    Hi everyone,

what do you think about this:
    https://hassonandwong.com/topical-fi...-prescription/
    https://3pfizs243h34c09mn6s0ul69-wpe...-DR-HASSON.pdf

Here is a link to the website of the research group mentioned (Prof. Paola Minghetti):
    http://www.farmacia.unimi.it/Facolta..._ITA_HTML.html

and, I think this might be the pharmacy offering this gel solution in Italy soon:
    http://www.farmaciaparati.it/

The idea sounds great, though not sure how the silicon particles would cause the finasteride-loaded liposomes to physisorbe to the cells in the scalp. Maybe 'swooping', 'chemical', or someone else could comment on this.

    Thanks in advance

    I have 2 questions.

1: If this is something that you use every day for the rest of your live, what happens to the silicone particles that you are introducing to your system. To my best knowledge silicone in not excreted from the body. Or is it sitting on top of your head and slowly releasing finasteride to your scalp? That would be good.

2: Is that study all they did? If I understood it correctly they are basically guessing the systemic finasteride concentration based on an in vitro study and a mathematical formula?? They didn't even measure systemic finasteride concentrations by taking blood samples?

Silicon particles can be tuned to be biodegradable: http://www.nature.com/nmat/journal/v...f/nmat2398.pdf

To my best understanding silicon and silicone are two different things. Although I am pretty sure the silicone in this case is sitting on top of the scalp and slowly releasing the finasteride, but some reassurance would be great.

A topical finasteride gel without side effects would be great.

So when will this be available? And is it only in Italy?

If anyone is in Spain ISDIN have Finasteride with Minoxidil available.

Doesn't this sound too simple and too good to be true? Not to mention somewhat out of the blue?

Sorry mate, you are right, I was a bit to quick on that one. I thought they were manufacturing some kind of silicon nanoparticle liposome hybrid with special peptide targeting and internalization properties.

I'm not really read up on silicones for skin products or drug-delivery so I can't provide deep educated comments on that. I will do some literature research on it in the next days/weeks and check back.
