Likely balding at crown--just looking to get opinions

Hi everyone,

I'm a 27 year old male, and it's looking a lot like I have male pattern baldness, which sucks since I just decided for the first time 2 years ago to grow my hair out...

Anyway, I'm posting pictures to get opinions. Confirmation that it's male pattern baldness and whether or not I should bother with trying Rogaine. I started using it about a week ago, but I'd like to know if it's a lost cause or not.

Also, I just thought I'd mention (since the pandemic) I had developed a habit of aggressive brushing/using a half fine, half regular toothed comb to aggressively try to deal with my increasingly snagged/knotted hair and to try to exfoliate some dandruff.

When I tug on my hair around the balding, I don't seem to be losing any hair. I know it's a massive hail mary, but since the balding appears a little asymmetrical, I'm really hoping...

Hello, what is yours dad's hair like? And your mum's dad and brother's hair?

Can I ask why you tug on your hair with a comb so hard? Is it a compulsion type thing?
