    Combo FUT + FUE performed by Dr. Feriduni – 5073 FU in 2 consecutive days session
    A combination of FUT and FUE performed on a 33 year old Asian male with:

    - NW IV- beg. V Class T
    - Donor density of ~84-96 FU/cm2 in the occipital donor region and ~80-92 FU/cm2 in the temporal donor regions
    - Hair diameter of ~60-74 microns

    Treatment plan:

    - 1st treatment: A combination of FUT and FUE to restore the hairline, central core, bridge and the crown area in low/medium density (performed on August 23rd, 2012)
    - 2nd Treatment: A FUE treatment to add more density to the crown area
    (performed on December 11th, 2013 – no end result pictures yet)

    Performed procedure (August 23rd & 24th, 2012):

    Follicular Strip Transplantation with 4264 FU performed on the 1st surgery day:

    * 642 single hair FU
    * 2864 double hair FU
    * 758 triple hair FU

    Follicular Unit Extraction with 809 FU performed on the 2nd surgery day:

    * 40 single hair FU
    * 613 double hair FU
    * 156 triple hair FU

    Total number of follicular units in 2 consecutive days: 5073 FU

    Double layer closing with PDS 4-0 absorbable sutures and disposable skin staples;
    Extraction performed with a 0.85mm FUE punch with CIT Manual Punch Handle. No microscopic preparation of the follicular unit grafts (FUE);
    Parallel incisions (single, double and triple units) were made in custom-sized blades technique (~Cutting Edge blades of 0.75mm – 0.95mm).

    A combination of FUT and FUE has been performed, being the explicit wish of the patient to be able to harvest as much follicular units as possible in only one procedure.

    Spex, i know there are a lot of things that go into the success of a hair transplant..but is there somewhere that explains why FUT is better in any way?

    I see numerous Hasson and Wong patients getting like 10,000 grafts and that's attributed to their laxity and donor density, yet people like Joetronic and other's were have said to not have had that great of donor hair or density but great laxity..and they got impressive results..so why can't anyone with average density get that many grafts through FUE? Is it just survival rate of FUE vs. a better yield with FUT?

    Thanks! and great case!
