DUPA and Vitamin D Deficiency
About 6 months ago I went to a hair specialist to get a quote about a hair transplant. Instead I found out I had DUPA and that I wasn't the greatest of candidates for a HT. My sides, though somewhat thin, aren't awful. In fact I hadn't even noticed they were thin until the doctor told me I had DUPA.
While I know most seem to think that DUPA is hereditary, I've gone a mission to find out if there could be another cause. Most of my family has really great hair, and no one has DUPA.
Last week I went to get some blood work done. Everything came in fine, except for my Vitamin D level. In fact the doctor was shocked by how deficient I was. He told me that a normal test would show a range of 30-100 (sorry not sure what the unit was here) and that I came in at a 10.
Could my Vitamin D deficiency by linked to the unusual hair loss?
