23 yr old Guy - Am I showing early signs of MPB - Should I start finasteride?

Hi Guys,

I’ve had concerns over thinning hair and overall hair loss over the last couple of months and would really appreciate your insight.


I’ve always had a bit of a widows peak but I have noticed thinning on the of the hairline in recent months.

I’ve attached a few photos below of my hair wet and dry, I scared myself when having a look with a hand mirror this morning after a shower!

I suspect that my hair has been thinning on the crown and from the peak. It’s difficult to make a comparison as I have never put my hair through enormous scrutiny before. My Dad lost his hair very quickly at around 21. However, both my grand grandfathers had full heads of hair going into their 80s, and I believe the prominent gene for balding lies on the maternal side.

As I’ve said, I’ve had concerns for a few months and secured a prescription for Finasteride but have yet to fill it. Essentially - I’d be very grateful for your opinion as to whether I should begin the prescription.

My family think I’m a bit paranoid - but I want to nip this in the bud sooner rather than later.
