Has anybody here made his wife pregnant/got a baby while on finasteride?
I was wondering if anyone on this forum has had a baby (had his partner pregnant) while using finasteride?

If yes, for how long have you been on it?

Any experience with this? I'd love to hear some info about this.

Interesting reply-count. This is actually really, really sad seeing the fact 90% of you does it for what girls/woman think about them.

IT IS SAD... You put up a picture of Jason Statham and you get a thousand replies... but you ask about taking fin or dut, and for experiences and nothing. There are very serious, potentially life-altering questions and decisions and... nothing. It's time to move on to another forum perhaps.

Having said that, I believe it is not physically dangerous to try to conceive while the man is on fin, but once again, who REALLY knows the entire impact this drug may have on sperm... once again, poorly studied and known. I know it may reduce sperm count, so you may want to get those levels checked... Sorry, I can't be of more help.

I could be wrong about this but I have been under the impression that it's not the sperm that are damaged by finasteride/dutasteride, but rather that a woman taking in finasteride/dutasteride continuously while the baby develops inside her is what causes problems.

Fin cuts sperm counts to a quarter on average.

In most men, with average sperm counts of 200mil, this is still in the "pretty fertile range". If you were somewhat below average on sperm counts, though, this can throw you below the 50mil cut-off for subfertility. Men with less than 10mil motile, high-quality sperm are considered effectively sterile without advanced reproductive technology. 10mil good sperm with 50mil total is pretty high as a bar but possible.

So for most guys...not a problem. For a pretty good chunk...an issue.

If you want a kid and you don't knock her up in 3 months, get a sperm count. It's pretty cheap.

One of my friends had such experience, it's not such a big problem in fact. The reason for the absence of pregnancy can be different...
