19 year old, hair loss trouble
    Hey guys,

Been hanging around this site for a couple of years now, but finally set up an account and wanted some advice!

I'm 19 years old and have had gradual hair loss for the last 1-2 years, I started minoxidil a year ago after seeing my hair loss accelerate, I had great results and re growth until recently when my hair loss sped up significantly. I've been thinking about starting propecia but I wanted to check that it was necessary before getting the pills.
I've attached some photos and wanted to know where I am on the Norwood scale, whether or not propecia was necessary and if any re growth around the temple region was possible.

    Thanks in advance!Attachment 41052Attachment 41053Attachment 41054Attachment 41055

Hey, welcome to the forums, I'm new here also. I'd say about NW3 but I'm not expert I'm just basing this off what I think a NW3 looks like compared to the scale. I'm 18 nearly 19 and I'm either waiting until I'm 20/21 before going on propecia as I haven't finished puberty yet (can't grow full facial hair and haven't got lots of body hair like my older brothers, but they didn't start getting beards until about 20 also). Good luck either way man!

Hey man thanks for the advice!
I was thinking just about reaching into Norwood 3, a quick question though.
I've already got a full beard and the body hair coverage etc. you list as reasons against taking propecia, so do you think this means I'd be suitable for the drug?

I'd probably speak to your GP about being suitable for it, but you do look like you're more developed than me. My reasoning is purely my own opinion because as I haven't seen any evidence to suggest propecia can mess with puberty but I definitely want to let puberty take it's natural course before I take any medication. But yeah I don't see why not, what I'm going to do when I start it is take 0.5mg everyday and see how that works, I'm going to do that for two reasons 1. Cost, because I'm low on money and on a shitty apprenticeship wage. 2. To see if I experience any sides at that dosage and if not then I'm definitely going to up the dosage to 1mg per day.

But yes, definitely go speak to your GP first, maybe see if he can check your DHT levels etc.
