    Am I going bald? - Age 21

    Hello all,

I had severe anxiety last semester, was taking 19 hours in college, had a terrible living arrangement etc.. I was on a beta blocker and anti depressant. I noticed my hair started to feel dull and I thought it was from the drugs so I got off of them and my hair returned to normal.

About two weeks later the dullness came back with avengence. My hair became hard to manage and it seemed that the actual shafts had become thinner. Then the shedding started.

In a matter of months I've shed tons of hair. Mainly in the shower and on the pillow. You can now see my scalp at the crown and it feels fine to the touch.

It seems to be thinning from all over. My hairline does not seem to have receeded, but it's hard to tell. The hair on my legs and arms also seem to feel different and are noticeable thinner. The hair on my head is dry and fly-away all over the place.

Am I going to shed all my hair away?

    Thanks,

    James

Do you have any baldness in your family? Also, have you seen a doctor? I just could be stress.

Both grandpas are 70+ and have nearly full heads of hair, dad has full head of hair.. Never anything at this young.

          Will it improve?

If there absolutely no family history of baldnes then more than likely your hair loss is due to other issues. I would see a doctor to help you determine your hair loss cause. Only a doctor can determine if your case will improve

Some guys lose hair and can't point to a single member of their family who doesn't have a full head of hair, but it seems like you might have something else going on and I advise seeing your doctor.

Are you thinning at the sides and back of your head too?

That's crazy talk, genes have been documented to skip over 5 generations. Just because he doesn't see anyone in his family have it, doesn't mean he doesn't carry the gene

Go to this thread. This guy claims to not have had any hair loss in his family going back to the 1800's. He also states that he has family members with photos to prove it.

It started soon after my 31st birthday. I was shocked and in disbelief once I noticed I was losing my hair. I have always had very thick hair and have zero family history of hairloss. Not only do I have full headed men on both sides of my immediate family, but my mother has an ancestral wall with photos of our family members

It's pretty weird, my dad has a thick N1 hair and his 50, mom has a thick N2, uncles, older brother(31) aunts, grandpas, and grandmas have thick hairs, but my older cousins(25-30) from my mom's side are balding badly. They're N3-N5 with diffuse hairline. It's weird because they were N1's, all of them. I'm still a N1 on the left side of my hairline and a N1.5 on the ride side with minor thinning. I'm just scared that I'm heading toward that direction.

OP, You should see a hair specialist and get on the BIG 3. I will also add emu oil, and folligen, maybe Spiro if you willing to take the risk. so far with all these product i've slow down my hair loss back to normal, 30 a day.

Shedding is still pretty bad and it is shedding all over my head. Sides included. My girlfriend says it doesn't seem like the hairline is receeding but says it definitely is thinning out. Could this just be Telogen Effluvium or MPB? I went to the dermatologist and he said it doesnt look like MPB, but he didn't really inspect me too well..

It has a slight itch, and i've also shed hairs on my arms and legs, noticeably.
