Marc Dauer, MD- Hairline Repair 2463 Grafts FUT
    Greetings,

Here is a patient of mine who had 2 previous procedures performed by another local surgeon before he presented to me. His previous procedures were performed at age 23 and 26. He presented to me at age 29.

His previously transplanted hairline was very unnatural with 2 and 3 hair grafts in the hairline and the recessions were lowered to the position of a juvenile hairline.
He was very disappointed with his results and wanted significantly more density and a more natural hairline.

I removed many of the larger grafts in the hairline via FUE using a 0.8mm punch tip and recycled those grafts further back.

I also harvested a strip and got 2463 grafts which I placed in a much more conservative location.

The patient is thrilled with his results.

It is imperative that hair restoration surgeons take into account the patient's age and eventual hair loss pattern before they decide on a hairline design. You cannot create a juvenile hairline in a patient that is predicted to be a norwood 6 or 7 or even a norwood 5 with less than average donor density. Sometimes patients will push for a lower hairline but it is our responsibility as experienced hair transplant surgeons to explain to the patient what is best for them both in the short term and long term.
