The number of people suffering with hair loss is staggering.
The number of people suffering with hair loss is staggering; is there nothing we can do, as a group, to initiate progress in coming research endeavours?

If there is power in numbers, can we as a collective have any influence on expediting the development of cutting edge treatments?

As an example, if each member of tbt decided to donate 10$ towards a cause, we would garner $176,660. Say each of us donated 20$, once; $353,320 would be raised. 30$? $529,980. Etc. If every member gave 30$ that's half a million dollars raised.

Imagine we could somehow donate this money directly to Histogen. Would this in any way expedite the process of getting a viable treatment to market?

    Just some thoughts.

Those figures are a mere drop in the ocean.

I think most people suffering from hair-loss aren't fully aware of the treatments available or of those in the pipeline. I constantly see people my age (21) with NW3 or worse which usually means they aren't on treatments or failed to catch it early enough. I think I read somewhere that Propecia only has 1 million or fewer users which is nothing considering around half of males suffer from MPB (granted, this doesn't account for those who self medicate but I imagine the number is small since the average uninformed person would likely question the legitimacy of an online pharmacy).

And as far as donations/funding go, it would take quite a bit more than that. I think it is pretty standard for major drug companies to spend billions developing a new drug.

The rate is no different now than it has ever been. The attitudes about it among man has changed. Historically, most men just accept it because it was not possible to do anything about for most of history. It has only been possible to do something about for a relatively short period of time - historically speaking.

... Or they know of them, but realise that they are pretty much only slightly better than useless (the existing ones), as for the future, there's been so many empty promises and treatments that never emerged from clinical trials. We can't even count on Aderans, Histogen, CB-03-01, etc, ever being available to buy in the future!

I am deeply sorry fin hasn't worked for you. But to call it useless when it keeps something like 85% of men above baseline for 10 years (according to that study by Dr. Rossi, I believe it was) is pretty damn stupid.

Yeah why not make a kickstarter type of thing for a research into MPB? CB 03 01 is farther ahead in trials for acne then MPB take a guess why they pursue that first? Larger market and more sales even though acne has treatments already and its arguably a less serious problem except in rare bad cases.

I think the drug companies and those attempting hair multiplication are well aware of the demand for a hairloss cure (or treatments that are more successful than those currently available) and see plenty of incentive to deliver results. Unfortunately these technologies tend to move at a snail's pace.

Acne market higher sales and larger then MPB = fact.
