Regulating the hair transplant industry

Many posters here have expressed disappointment over the years that the U.S. government does not regulate the hair transplant industry the way it does with other medical fields. If lawmakers were to draft regulations for the hair transplant industry in the U.S., what do you think those regulations should include?

Regulation would be of limited value. Business has a way of determining the regulation and the bigger they are the more they determine what the regulation is going to be often times making it much harder for smaller players that actually have better ethics and business practices. They also have a way of co-opting the information sources and what people believe.

For example what if those with the money persuaded the regulators to write that FUE could only be performed with a specific type of robotic equipment just using this as an example. Then does this serve the patient or does this serve those selling the robotic equipment. This happens day in and day out and it’s called politics. Sometimes the best approach would be to just rely on word of mouth from very trusted family members and friends.
