VIDEO Dr. Lindsey 6 month update on hairline scar excision
Viewers may recall this high school boy who had an IV burn as a neonate that left him with a hairless patch and burn scar at his right hairline. As his family suggests he'll lose significant hair as he matures...there is little use in planting hair that will become an island in a bald frontal region...so I excised his scar, closed it in 3 layers and sent him home to avoid the sun and apply vitamin E.

Instead he went yachting and didn't like the vitamin E "gooing" up his hair. Nevertheless he looks great at 6 weeks. Other than a little scab where a dissolvable suture worked its way out yesterday, his scar is almost imperceptible. Just wait a year! Usually these young pinker skinned kids stay looking red for years and he already looks great. They are local so hopefully we'll get an update next summer.

The video of today, and including his surgical procedure, which may be graphic to some is: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yf05HuGCQvw
