Biotin

So, today in my biochem class, we were learning about biotin and i was surprised see that its a water soluble vitamin. Biotin is found to be in a vast number of shampoos that claim to slow down hair loss. I dont understand the point of putting biotin into these shampoos if biotin CANNOT be absorbed through the skin. Is the whole biotin slowing down hair loss a scam just like everything else. Out of curiosity, has anyone here had any beneficial results taking biotin. Im starting to think the only ways to truly fight hair loss are hair transplants, minoxidil, and finasteride.
