Dr. Lindsey 3100 grafts at exactly 5 months

This fellow showed up last week for a checkup. He is exactly 5 months out from 3100 grafts in a "u" pattern preserving his frontal tuft.

Shown are preop and intraop and 1 week pics. And then pics at about a month out.

Finally pics from 5 months are shown. He is exhibiting faster than expected growth and is happy. Equally important is that his wife has been very supportive of his procedure, sitting with him much of the operative day, and she is happy with the results...which will only improve until he stops in this August for a year check.

    Timing of healing

These are impressive results, thank you for posting it is helpful to many of us considering HT to see the early pictures. Would you mind commenting on how many weeks it took for this patient to return to his baseline pre-op status ? What I am trying to figure out is how long someone like this would have needed to take off from work/social outings to avoid others knowing a procedure was done. It looked to me from the pictures that at 1 month all the red and swelling was gone and he was back to baseline. Is that correct, not sure I am following the timeline of the pictures correctly ?

Thank you very much for your comments.

You are correct on your timing issues. In fact, search a bit further down on the posted cases and you'll see one of my 2500 graft cases at 2.75 months when maybe a little new hair is growing and some old hair is bouncing back from shock loss.

Essentially my posted cases including this one is comprised of: day of surgery, day 7 when sutures come out and its a bit crusty, 5 or 6 weeks after surgery IF patients return for a free scar check(about 1/3 do), and then around 6 months, or as otherwise specified, when people come in for a 6 month check and often there is not much hair growing, and finally a year or so out when results are starting to look pretty good.

This guy was just lucky to grow quick and early. Nothing special was done by him or me to get it to grow early.

And as far as down time, if you do the front, there is no practical way to have less than a week out of public, but at the same time a week is plenty. Things tend to look pretty good til about a month out when new hair sheds, and then people often look a bit worse than preop til 3 or 4 months out when shockloss recovers.

We occasionally have someone shave off the transplanted hair and I've posted an example of that or 2 on this and other sites as well.
