The writeup states "Today Follicum is carrying out preclinical studies, in animal models and on isolated live human tissue and even at low doses FOL-S-005 showed significant stimulation of hair growth on mice." I'm not certain if these results are from mice or human tissue. My guess would be mice. I'm just presenting the information as I receive it.Comment

It does look promising. And sounds like it could even begin December time this year if things go to plan.
I never understand however with products that contain growth factors, why in the trial do they not use people on finasteride as well? I know because it can mess up the controls and would be hard to tell if someone is telling the truth how long they'd been on fin ect but atleast you will be creating the optimal conditions to treat androgenic alopecia I.e not DHT in the scalp.Comment

but how did you manage do get that exclusive info? =)
do you think they could give you some basic information about how the mechanism of their molecule works? was it just an accidental discovery or is there some science behind it? (e.g. modulating wnt pathway)
i hope they can test their substances on humans asap, because we already know that almost everything grows hair on mice. i often have the feeling that growth of hair in mice is some kind of side effect or reaction of the immune system to different substances. in the end, a coat of a mice is not comparable to human hair, not to mention MPB affected hair, although many scientists still think that mice (or sometimes bald mice) are a good model for human hair. too many decades have been wasted with testing hair growth compounds on mice.
i would be totally surprised if this follicum molecule really grows a single hair in humans.Comment

The technology of Follicum is based on endogenous proteins that have been modified and when studied they were found to stimulate hair growth. The founders have been working on the research for about 11 years. They have even collaborated with renowned hair researcher Ralf Paus over the past several years.

Tenma, do you really think it would take them 10 years to get this to market? Especially if they are using factors found in our own bodies? I don't know if Sweden has any sort of 21st Century Cures Act, but if they do wouldn't that cut the trials down to a year or two max?Comment

I'm not entirely certain how the act will work but as far as I'm aware it doesn't matter where the trials have taken place ect for you to still apply for early release. You have to be careful with this 10 years time thing as well. This is a company which formed in 2004 and has pretty much been working heavily on this. In 2011 they filed a patent and now they are also working with 2 other companies for the production of this drug and rolling out the trials. These are companies which are big in their fields already so hopefully you wont get the delays with mediums ect like with replicel. If things go smoothly it won't be 10 years. If they do a replicel, then probably 10 years haha. And obviously the fact nothing seems to bloody work aha.Hopefully we can learn a lot about them since they will be presenting at the hair congress in florida this year.
