Should a 16 year old with hairloss try saw palmetto?

Hi, I lose about 20 strands of hair every day and also have receding temples, due to my age I can't start finastride but I was wondering if I could try saw palmetto tablets, even if they don't work wouldn't it be better then nothing?
    Would you recommend them?
    Thanks!!

I don't think you should garner too much hope in saw palmetto. In the end it will not change or slow down MPB. I was balding at 15 and tried this and everything else. Keep doing your research. I'm a big believer in keeping what you have as opposed moving it around surgically later. Finasteride works wonders for young males with existing native hair. I know at your age there will be some challenges but the sooner you map out a long term game plan to keep what hair you have the better off you will be. Loosing 20 strands a day would be nothing to worry about if you weren't thinning but at your age thinning is a big red flag of things to come. Please before you do anything else go see some hair loss specialists and get a couple of opinions on top of researching for yourself then when your finished with that research some more!

My right temple is thinning and although i can hide it i dont think i will be able to for long,
i visited a derm and he refused to prescribe finastride also many members advised not to start. I feel like saw palmetto would be better then nothing, what would you recommend i do? My entire scalp is losing hair and i am certain something is wrong although it may not be visible.
        thanks!
(Ive actually posted before too id be greatfull if you had a look)
Hi, my hair loss started at the start of 2015. At the time I had started accutane and since it was known to cause hair loss I chose to ignore it although I remained very observant about my hair. I took accutane off and on for the entire year by the end of 2015 in November I stopped completely. During my treatment I also

It's messing with hormones still, just at a much reduced rate than Propecia.

In all honesty, for your risk vs reward I'd just wait a couple of years and go on Fin. Use minox until then.

Actually I don't want to try Minox until things get too bad, I keep my hair semi long so applying it everyday would make them visibly greasy, also I'm scared of most of my hair becoming minoxidil dependent and it losing effectiveness over time
At my age wouldn't saw palmetto be better?, it's a light Dht inhibitor I'll still have enough DHT for my body it may help a little with my hair. Even if it doesn't wouldn't it be better then nothing
Can it help with my acne?
Decreased libdo doesn't really bother me right now
            Thanks!!

There is very little evidence that saw palmetto will work at all. Especially if you are losing hair at 16. Losing hair that young means your follicles are very DHT receptive. A moderate DHT inhibitor isn't going to help. Minoxidil can help slow the loss by keeping blood flow high. It works best on the crown and won't likely help anywhere else but it could slow growth until a new treatment comes around or you get on propecia.

It's not worth the risk in my opinion. You can find that people end up damaged from SP just like folks are damaged with persistent side effects from Propecia. At least with Propecia you have SOME reward to go a long with your risk.

As stated saw palmetto will not help you with MPB. There may be someone who will argue the the point but the fact is there is absolutely No real evidence that it either slows down, reverses or prevents male patter baldness. Because it doesn't...if it did this forum probably wouldn't exist and it would cost a hell of a lot more then $10 for a bottle of 200 pills.
