    Proscar shedding

How long does it last? Have searched various forums and the answer varies a lot. I started a month ago on 1mg a day and my hair is thinning. It's a shame because I usually have a very thick head of hair.
Not going to give up on Proscar because I hope that, in the long-run, I will benefit from taking it. Just curious as to for how long this shedding is going to continue.

    There is no answer, really..

I didn't shed at the start but I'm shedding at the 5-6month mark, and I had a shed at the 3month mark.

Some people shed massively at the start then never again,

    etc.

You really just have to stick with it and know that the drug won't make your hair worse, the only thing that could be negative is temporary.

Anything after a year or so that you feel looks worse is because you didn't respond to the drug in regrowth, or that you only slowed it down or did nothing.

I took it for several years and then stopped

I never shed or grew anything. It did not reverse my loss, it just stopped it and I was pleased with it. I did have occasional sharp pains in my groin. They stopped after I stopped it. I did notice some sexual negative side affects that developed slowly over time. That kind of scared me so I quit it and went to Minoxidil liquid and then foam. Doesn't seem to be doing anything for me. I would not have done the Proscar/Fin if I had to do it all over again. At the time, the side affects were trivialized.
