All Macao hotels must comply with the new Tourism Law which prohibits smoking. All guests staying in hotels and commercialised resorts must wear nicotine-dispensing smocks, be subject to heat checks, and sign a Macao Health Code. All resorts and hotels have strict prohibitions against smoking, as it is considered a dangerous "recreational addiction". The move, aimed at curbing the island's increasing rate of smoking, has caused several airlines to stop air travel to Macau. However, other international carriers have remained resolute to let go their flights to the tiny region.
