After completing eight cycles of treatment, our family spent over a week finalizing the next step in my grandfather’s care journey.

He will now be admitted for photodynamic local therapy, while continuing immunotherapy maintenance treatment during this period. Over the past few days, we consulted multiple hospitals and doctors, reviewed different opinions, and did a lot of research before arriving at a decision.
The current plan is Flinolimab combined with Cetuximab as maintenance therapy. According to the doctors we consulted, this class of Chinese-developed immunotherapy drugs has already been incorporated into treatment guidelines for head and neck squamous cell carcinoma in certain contexts, and is considered within the same immunotherapy landscape as established agents like pembrolizumab (Keytruda) and nivolumab (Opdivo).
Honestly, after going through this round of adjustments, the biggest takeaway is: there is a lot of information and many possible treatment pathways, but finding the one that truly fits an individual patient requires continuous communication and careful consideration.
We are now entering a more stable phase of the treatment journey, and we hope this next step will bring better disease control and outcomes.
