I’m 47and have had two hair transplants:

• First HT: FUT – 2000 grafts in 2014 (photos attached)
• Second HT: FUE - 3000 grafts in 2018 (photos attached)

I’ve noticed ongoing diffuse thinning through my mid-scalp and crown. The front framing from my transplants is still there, but I feel the native hair behind it has continued to thin over time.

I’ve never used finasteride (big mistake) but am considering starting now. I also wondered if I still have enough donor supply left for a future procedure.

1. Is it too late for finasteride to make a difference?
2. Rough estimate of grafts needed if I had another transplant?
3. Does my donor area still look decent?
4. Would you continue treatment and consider a third HT, or go shorter/shaved?

Today I would like to share my hair transplant journey.

My hair transplant was done on 28th March 2025 at Avenues Cosmetic Clinic, Ahmedabad, India, by Dr. Kinnar Kapadia and his team.

During the procedure, 3,800 grafts were transplanted by the FUE method.

Luckily for me, no shock or shedding occurred and that made me very happy. In addition to the hair transplant, I had PRP procedure and applied serums. Currently, the donor area is recovered and I can see good hair regrowth.

Overall, I am really satisfied with the results as everything is normal and the results look natural.

I took the leap of faith and went to Istanbul to get hair transplants twice, one was okay but the second one was not good.

Here are some things I'll share with you as you go through the process.

-Buy an airplane pillow and a shirt that is a loose button down IMMEDIATELY if you book, that airplane ride will be uncomfortable after the procedure. Cause you're not going to want to put on a sweatshirt with your sensitive scalp and that airplane pillow will avoid you having your scalp being touched or damaged in anyway

-If you look up instagram pages of clinics, you'll notice they have a ton of followers and all these great reviews on google. But most of them are paid for

-When you're in the consultation phase, they'll send you pictures of results from other patients but what I recommend is tell them to send photos of people with a similar profile to yourself. Just cause that clinic was successful for that specific person, doesn't mean it'll be as successful for you

-Look at the doctor who's operating vs the clinic name, the doctor with more years of experience is typically the person who knows what he's doing. Those doctors typically allow 1-2 patients per day vs others where theres 5/6 and technicians are working on it

-Price gap is real, in the United States they average out to $15k, in Istanbul it's 2.5k to 5k
