2 weeks ago I was priviledged to give a lecture on hair transplantation down at the University of Virginia Medical Center. In addition to just a bunch of slides and 2 movies of cases in progress, I was able to get 2 of our patients to show up and field questions from the audience.

One patient was a fellow 4 months out from 3400 with actually 30% growth.

The other was this fellow, who was exactly 53 weeks out from surgery.

Both are happy, particularly this fellow, who commented to the audience of doctors and resident physicians, that his social life was alot better this year. I'm not sure the surgery is the cause of that, but he does strike me as more confident this year than when I first met him. I believe he settled a bunch of issues in his personal life over the past year and this may be the last of his "to do" items that he had to check off. Either way, I'm glad he's happy.

For those who are scrutinizing the pictures...I took these with a portable camera in the conference center, with and without flash. Note the cinderblock wall, not my usual blue door as a background. Also, I believe that the weakest part of his hair is now the "preserved tuft". I don't think its thinning, just the rest is more dense. If it ever bothers this fellow, that is an easy touch up via FUE or strip.
