So I like to keep my hair on top fairly long and think i've got a style that works for me in spite of my receding hairline. However as soon as there's any sort of wind the products i've tried just seem to give up.
Does anyone know a good hair product that give a natural-ish look but has a strong hold for thin hair?

My hair isn't very thin yet, but it's thin enough for me to understand your struggle.
I use "By Vilain - Silver Fox (http://www.slikhaarshop.com/by-vilain-silver-fox/) to give my hair the model I want. while I work this product in, I also blowdry my hair into the model I want. These two together should already give you a pretty decent hold. To top it off, I use a tiny amount of clay (ID Hair Extreme Titanium, http://www.hairandlooks.nl/Webshop/tabid/679/ProdID/3075/ID_Hair_Extreme_Titanium_Wax.aspx) to get an extra strong hold. Then maybe blowdry it some more if I feel it's necessary but usually I'm good after that.
This gives me a strong hold and a natural, wavy look as well. If you're not used to blowdrying it can be a bit of a bi!tch in the beginning, but it's really useful to create a long lasting model.
Instead of that ID Hair Titanium you can also use Claymation from Hanz de Fuko, it's also pretty decent. Oh en maybe use some hair spray afterwards to keep things together? I don't use one so I can't really recommend one but you can google around to look for a good one.
