Do you think this is a bald spot? Picture included

    Hello,

I am 25 and I´ve been taking Propecia for the past five years or so. I took it before any signs of hair loss because MPB runs on both sides of my family (every single person on father´s side is bald). I´ve recently switched to Avodart 1.5 months ago.

I am quite worried that I am still losing my hair.

It seems like there is a bald spot on my crown. I have taken two pictures which show what I am referring to.

I don´t know if this visible spot of scalp is because of the way my hair is combed (well, I don´t really comb at all to be honest) or if it´s because of hair loss.

Please let me know if I am being paranoid or if this spot of scalp is genuinely a cause for concern. Any help would be much appreciated.

No it seems normal to me. It seems like you have a nice head of hair. I would not be paranoid about that.

Sorry if I´m not losing my hair and I´m being a jerk by posting this on a messageboard where people are genuinely suffering from MPB. I only worry because I know the only reason I´m keeping my hair is through the DHT inhibitors (Propecia and Avodart) because I have such an incredibly strong genetic predisposition (brother´s hair loss began at 19, dad´s at 20 and all extended relatives are bald on dad´s side).

I am not a doctor but I am pretty sure it is not a good idea to take both Finasteride and Dutasteride at the same time - plus it's a massive waste of money. Are you self medicating or did a doctor actually prescribe you to take both at the same time?

Sorry for any confusion. I am only taking Avodart at the moment. I stopped taking Propecia when I started taking Avodart.

I am originally from Germany and Avodart is actually cheaper there (although that didn´t really factor into my decision to switch from Propecia to Avodart).

How is Avodart working out for you? It looks like you have all of your hair, so I'm assuming well.

Iīve only been taking it for less than two months. I havenīt experienced any of the side effects others have complained about. I have a "mature hairline" (maybe a little bit of recession), but I havenīt noticed any new growth in this area. I never had any "shed" either which some others whoīve switched from Propecia to Avodart complained about.

That's good to hear. Keep us posted. There are lot of younger guys who are on the fence about taking these drugs, so it's important for those who have success to keep everyone posted on their progress.
