Hi everyone I’m an 18 year old terrified of losing my hair at such a young age. I want to schedule an appointment with a dermatologist but right now I can’t get an appointment due to the panic over the coronavirus. Really unfortunate timing. I’m worried now because I can’t tell why I’m losing my hair but I have a few ideas. I don’t have much history of MPB in my family other than my father (shaved his head at age 55) and even my Moms dad at 84 still has a decent amount of hair. I just got off Glucosamine Chondroitin and Duexis (Antiinflammatories, Arthritis Meds, and Blood Thinners) so those could be the cause of my recent hair loss. I first noticed a little bit of increased shedding around October when I first started taking Glucosamine Chondroitin. I’ve noticed and increase amount of hair loss in the shower but ONLY WHEN I shampoo or condition my hair. Last count was around 103 today and 68 last time. I have a dandruff problem and have ordered DS Labs Scalp Stimulating Shampoo in the hopes to help any hair loss and stop Dandruff. I’ve also had fairly bad Chronic Anxiety which could be causing the hair loss but I’m on the fence whether to really try and commit to something like Fin with those terrible side effects. I’ve considered starting Rogaine, but I want to avoid the initial hair loss especially if I don’t actually have Male Pattern Baldness. What do you guys think? I can take more pictures if needed but I want to do whatever I can to avoid losing my curly hair . Thank You.

      Hi Beep,

You should research into the possible side effects that the medications that you were taking might have, a side effect may will be hair loss. The timeline of you hair loss coinciding with the medical use would again point the finger at the meds.

That should be your first port of call. You have stated that you have no history of hairloss at such an early stage in your family so hereditary hair-loss especially at such a tender age is less likely (however still possible).

Now that you off the meds you should try to get your mind and body back in order and monitor for any improvements in your hair over the coming weeks.

That would be the common sense approach I would take.

I wish you all the best.
