    Discussing hair loss

    Hey Alex!

First, you are not alone. There are millions of men who experience hair loss in their twenties. As you may have read on this blog, or other websites. You basically have 3 options.....

    1) Do nothing. Hair loss is a disease of aging, and it will progress. Some men choose to let nature take it's course. (But not everyone has Bruce Willis' career or money LOL)
    2) Medical treatment: These are Propecia and Rogaine.
    3) Surgical treatment: Hair transplants.

Dr. McAndrews recommends that every patient start with option #2. Why? Because if you could stop your hair loss progression where it is, you may not need to go to option #3. Even the best hair transplant surgeon in the world can not give you what nature did, so why not do everything you can to keep what nature gave you?

If you opt for a hair transplant before starting the medical therapies, you should keep in mind that the average man will lose approximately 4% density per year, so you will need to have a transplant every 4-5 years to keep up with nature. Most men run out of donor hair long before their stop losing their hair.

Do some research here and at www.thebaldtruth.com. Find a doctor to evaluate your hair loss to determine your ultimate balding pattern and make an informed decision about which option is best for you.

If you have any other questions, feel free to ask!

At your age you should be focusing on prevention of further loss. However, it would not be a bad idea to either visit or have an on line consultation with a hair restoration specialist. This would give you an idea of what your options are and allow the doctor to track your progress over the next few years.
