    Male 27 ... 6+ Years on Propecia & 2+ Years on Regaine

    Hi All,

Never posted in any forums like this before but want to share my results with people. Ive been taking Propecia since 2011 and Regaine since 2015.

Background - I started losing my hair when I was 21 and at university. At first I was in denial and then decided to take action immediately, and started out on Propecia. I have experienced good results whilst on it especially on the crown. After about 5 years on Propecia I added Regaine because I noticed my hairline receding.

I’d recommend it 100%. From the day I started taking it I noticed instant results. I wish I’d have started on it sooner. I saw absolutely no side effects.

        Thanks for the answer!

Don't you think it can mess up my hormones (height, facial features, etc). Also, where do you purchase propecia?

Have you ever had any periods of time where you missed putting in your rogaine? If so, did you notice any significant amounts of hairloss?

            Hi,

I haven’t noticed Propecia’s had any side effects whatsoever. Height, other body hair, sexual etc ... no side effects. I currently buy it from Boots but thinking of switching to Generic Finis as its half the price. Only thing I would say is it made me less up for the gym when I first started taking it but use pre workout all the time now.

On the rogaine question I actually only use it of an evening. I wash it out in the morning when I have my shower. I do not use it at all most weekends when at my girlfriends and longest I have gone without using it is on 2 week holidays abroad. Never noticed any regression from those times I don’t use it. I think you will if you go several months without using it. However, Propecia is no effort so I aim to never miss a day.

Would you mind showing us your current hairline by pulling it up? And could you possibly link me the website? Thank you so much

Great hair. You are a good responder.some questions:

                1. Do u use foam or liquid Rogaine?
                2. What shampoos do u use and do they contain silicones?
                3. Do u take any supplements like whey protein or creatine and does it affect ur hair?
                4. Do u take any vitamins/supplements for hair?
                5. Did u or do u currently have scalp itching/inflammation/dandruff?

                Thanks

                  Hi John,

Apologies for the long delay in replying, I have not been on the site in some time. Some answers to your questions below:

                  1. I use liquid form
                  2. I used Nizoral 2% shampoo for roughly a year at once a week. After running out I didn't bother buying it again as I did not notice much difference. Now I just use a regular silk and smooth shampoo.
                  3. I take 3 scoops of whey protein a day and have done that for years now. I don't believe this effects your hair in anyway. I took creatine for about 6 months a couple years ago and it made me a little paranoid I was getting thinner at the front so stopped taking it. I may have just been paranoid but no longer take creatine. I have no evidence to back up my paranoia.
                  4. I take no vitamins for my hair. Just a standard A-Z complete vitamins and minerals pill a day.
                  5. No scalp itching / dandruff etc

                      Observations:

                      - I am well overdue a haircut so my hair is a lot longer than it would normally be at the moment
                      - On the top of my head I do not think I have observed any changes from the Propecia in the last year. No more gain, no more loss. Perhaps the Propecia has benefitted me as much as it will now.
                      - I added Rogaine to my routine that I only apply once a day (at night). I added this after I noticed my front was receding and miniaturisation of hairs whilst on propecia alone. The Rogaine seems to have reversed the miniaturisation for now and has grown new short hairs on my hairline. It has resulted in a less receding look. These hair do not grow long like the rest of my head though.
                      - From the Rogaine, I have observed the side effects of tiredness in the mornings and 2 faint frown lines on my forehead. However, this could just be from the fact I am now nearly 30 and use sunbeds.
                      - Over the last 7 years my hair has definately got thicker. People have commented on this and I have noticed it.
                      - I used Nizoral 2% for roughly a year once a week. I forgot to buy a new one and didn't think this was benefitting me in a huge way so have stopped using it.

Any questions, feel free to ask.

So you did not experience ANY of the dreaded sexual sides (lack of morning wood, softer erections, not being able to gain or maintain an erection, loss in libido)? EVER?

I was also on Propecia and didn't really see any side effects. However I was not allowed to donate blood since blood can't be given to baby's from people who are taking Propecia. So I stopped using it. Use this information as you will.
