Propecia is it worth the risk?

Having done my research it seems Propecia is the only way to go. However I'm not a fan of taking any kind of drugs, particularly one with such bad sides. Has anyone honestly taken this drug with no sides?

I have hundreds of patients who have been taking Propecia for years without any side effects. I only have had a handful of patients complain of side effects. If you are one of the unlucky small percentage of people who have a legitamate side effect, ( not plecebo ) when you discontinue medication the side effects should go away very quickly.

i dont think it is a small percentage, i started taking fin 5 months ago and had all kind of sides, the good thing is that they wiil go away it took me 3 months to get rid of sides, now i am sides free and very happy with my hair, i recovered years of lost hair..

      definitely it was worth ...

Those who have problems - serious problems - on fin are always going to be the loudest voices as well as the ones you are most likely to remember. The majority of people who have no sides, or very minor ones they can live with, are mostly quiet and content.

          Avodart is better!

I have been taking propecia since i was 18....best choice i ever made! Do it asap! However, i recently discovered avodart which lowers dht levels by 95% as opposed to propecia which only lowers it by 60%....i would take avodart instead! Since i started taking avodart i have seen a significant increase in density! Major!

Fyi....don't get ripped off buying propecia....get your doc to write you a prescription for proscar....same med marketed as prostate med......it is a 5 mg pill as opposed to 1 mg for 1/2 the price.

You can buy avodart really cheap at 4rx.com

          best of luck to all!

Oh yeah...i am not a doctor just a great critical thinker! Take my advice as you will.

Wow if avodart is really THAT much more effective I might seriously rather consider taking that then finasteride when I start taking pills.

Mhh. I will ask a doctor about this.

                  Yes it works!

Yes, I do have a prescription but you don't need one at 4rx.com. I HAVE PURCHASED IT AT MY LOCAL WAL MART BUT IT'S 3-4 TIMES MORE EXPENSIVE. Most Docs will easily write you one but the insurance usually won't cover it if it's for "cosmetic" purposes. That's why I buy it online. my only concern about buying avodart online is that it can be a "counterfeit" or a lower dosage than you would get in the USA. I don't think this is the case but I won't say the thought has never crossed my mind.

YES, IT MADE A HUGE IMPACT EVERYWHERE! IT, LIKE PROPECIA, WON'T NECESSARILY GROW HAIR BACK WHERE YOU ARE ALREADY COMPLETELY BALD BUT YEAH I CAN TELL A HUGE DIFFERENCE.

THE ONLY SIDE EFFECT I HAVE EXPERIENCED IS SLIGHT PEACH FUZZ ALL OVER MY BODY....FUNNY ENOUGH IN MY EARS ESPECIALLY!

WITH THAT SAID, I WILL TAKE PEACH FUZZ ALL DAY LONG IF IT KEEPS THE HAIR ON MY HEAD INTACT. I GET MY EARS WAXED ONCE EVERY 3 WEEKS AND IT IS NOT A BIG DEAL AT ALL.....TO ME, THIS IS A SIGN THAT THE MEDS ARE WORKING!

                  BEST,

I quit the drug about a month ago, and I am having some trouble 'down there' that match up with the sort of problems that some of the guys over on propeciahelp are having. I hate to scaremunger, but it seems like a dangerous drug in my case, although I'm not sure, maybe I need to give it a few more months and the pains and lack of feeling will go away.

If there are hairloss specialists on here saying how many patients they have had with no problems, to be honest that's pretty reassuring, infact it makes me want to keep trying but I daren't, health should always come first.

I would say the most alarming thing with propecia is that Merck changed there statement saying that it can cause erectile dysfunction.

I guess all I tend to see is people who have had side affects, not to many people are even posting here to say they are not having sides. I would hate to do something damaging to my system without having all the facts.

                            Avodart

I take one pill per day .5 mg.....I have friends that take more....2 a day but I just take one.

I have never had any erectile dysfunction. Maybe I have been lucky! Anyway, I have also heard that propecia losses some of its potentcy after taking it for 4-6 years. Anyway, to each his own. I respect those who choose not to take it for whatever reason. However, I also like to share my experience because not too many people know about this and I see avodart as a miracle drug.

One other thought.....the only doctors who have ever hesitated to write me an avodart prescription have been hair transplant doctors. I DO NOT THINK ALL HT DOCS ARE LIKE THIS BUT THIS IS THE CONCLUSION I CAME TO AS A RESULT OF THE OBSERVATIONS I MADE BASED ON OTHER HIGH PRESSURE SALES TACTICS ETC. THAT THESE DOCS TRIED...... PERSONALLY, I SUSPECT THAT THESE DOCS DO NOT WANT PEOPLE TO KNOW ABOUT AVODART BECAUSE IT MEANS THAT YOU WILL NOT BE COMING BACK FOR MORE SURGERY AS FAST.....AGAIN, I DO NOT THINK ALL HT DOCS ARE LIKE THIS BUT IT WOULD BE FOOLISH TO THINK THAT SOME ARE NOT GREEDY ENOUGH TO TELL YOU AVODART IS BAD BECAUSE THEY KNOW IT WILL NOT BE FINANCIALLY ADVANTAGEOUS IN THE LONG RUN FOR THEM.....JUST A THOUGHT. A regular doc will not think anything of it. As long as they know about it and how it works etc. because they don't have anything to lose.

                            peace,
