I have read different opinions about which is more effective the foam or the liquid. Is it possible for a doctor who might have some better insight to comment on this - Thanks
Rogaine foam vs liquid

The ingredients in the original Rogaine that caused most of the redness and irritation have been removed. The new foam Rogaine can probably be used once a day and be as effective. This also helps keep the cost down. The Minoxidil is the same, it just has less additional chemicals.Comment

If you have a family history of genetic hairloss and already seeing signs of hairloss yourself it might not be a bad idea to try it.Comment

I'm using the foam and I'm shedding SO much hair, you can easily see my scalp now, it was never that bad. I'm horrified and I don't know if I want to continue treatment if my hair gets any worse then I might have to shave it.
How long until the shed hair returns? I heard up to 6 months??
I understand that shedding is a good thing, however shedding this much at once is horrible, I'd recommend using the liquid for 6months first, then switching over to the foam, perhaps to avoid the horrors of the shedding.Comment

Rogaine foam

I've been trying to search for some information concerning switching from Rogaine liquid to foam. About 11 years ago (I'm now 50) I started using Rogaine. At the time I didn't notice much hair loss but there is a history of it in my family. Over the years my hairline started to thin around the temples but I didn't detect any loss around the top of my head where I was applying it.
About 6 - 8 months ago I switched to Rogaine foam (I applied it twice a day as before). Over the last few months I have noticed a noticable amount of hair loss around the top of my head. I have recently read accounts of men using the foam and experiencing 'shedding' for a few months before hair growth takes place. Could this possibly be happening to me or is it possible that not enough minoxidil is making contact with my scalp. Any thoughts on the matter would be greatly appreciated!Comment
