Looks like a normal hairline to me. This is what I suggest. Get your haircut short like a french crop style or something and take a picture sideways on, 6 months later get the same hair cut, take another picture the same way and compare photos. It's pretty unlikely you're receding at 16, not everyone has a straight low hairline, I think the shape of yours has probably got you worrying.

Are you guys serious? He's already a NW2 at 16 years old. Has your hairline always been like that? If not, I would be a bit worried. Keep an eye on it and if you notice it receding further, get on minoxidil, nizoral, and topical spiro ASAP. Then get on fin when you're 18 after proper research and understanding the risks.

looks like recession i'm sorry to say. At 16 this is going to be a long journey. Keep watching and take pics in 6 months and then again in 1 year. Only then will you know for sure if you have recession.

Yeah that's normal mature hairline territory, hardly any 16 year olds have it but it's true it does look great so no worries about getting it a bit early.

The main thing to watch out for (what I wish someone had told me as I had no clue) is any sign of thinning anywhere on the area where people eventually bald to. It probably won't suddenly jump back more in the same way as it's done now but if it's progressing you'll eventually be able to find some thinner areas. That's where really short hair helps to see what's going on.

I appreciate your concern and don't wish to offend you, but please get the hell of this forum and others like it. You haven't lost a folicle on your head.

Don't listen to all of these paranoid lunatics on the forum, telling you that you are NW2. By their standards 70% of women would be NW2.

Please research "body dysmorphia" and be very careful not to slide down the path of mental illness.

And whatever you do, don't go on fin with a hairline like that!

                    Hey dude.

Wow. For a 16 year old you sure received a lot of fairly complicated and confusing 'advice' from some of the members here.

While you can try to pick through all the posts to decide which you feel fits your situation, please allow me to give you some advice to take very seriously.

You are 16 years old. You are still growing. Its perfectly normal for your body to be changing. We all worried about our looks constantly when we were teenagers. You are perfectly normal. There is nothing wrong with it.

I think your hair looks great. It looks perfectly normal. However, I STRONGLY suggest you go to your family doctor and ask him/her what they think.

I would also ask your mom/dad what they think if you feel comfortable. Maybe you got an older brother or sister you can ask too.

If your doctor tells you your scalp is perfectly healthy, then monitor your 'hairline' to see if it moves upward or downward. It probably wont move at all for at least 2 years.

Keep going to the doctor or a dermatologist every 6 months once you turn 18 to see if he thinks you are a candidate for male pattern baldness. This way if you do develop it when you get older , then take his advice here.

                    cheers.

It looks like you are receding at the temples.

You will know if you are balding......you will physically see a lot of hair fall out when you wash it, got white pillows......you will notice many hairs on your pillow in the morning. Your hair will be weaker in places and be easy to pull out with little or no pain.

I started balding at 16, it sucks. I am now 28 and as bald as homer simpson.

I have not dealed with it well. It has been a hard life, constantly conscious of my lack of hair, regularly getting people mentioning it. Could not look at myself in the mirror for 2 years. Have become a recluse. My love and sex life has been ruined.

It depends how you can cope with it. I see other guys my age that are really bald but they seem to get on with it, have girlfriends, wives.

Only positive for you is that a cure could come out before you are 30, maybe earlier. For me...I am screwed.

You have a lot of conflicting advice, OP. One thing I can promise you, though, is that the people telling you that you aren't receding are likely people that are too far gone for treatments to even help. For whatever reason, these bitter souls look down on anyone that isn't a NW4+.These individuals have failed to get on treatments in the early stages of hair-loss and are now paying the price. Monitor your hair and respond accordingly.

Nobody is telling him he ISNT receding. I cant speak for anyone else but will address you myself.

The kid is 16 years old. He is a minor. You dont go around telling minors to get on medication or that they are going bald. You get the site SUED that way.

Thats right smart ass. SUED. Disclaimer and disclosures tend not to impress a judge when dealing with a minor.

If this kid reads these replies and then goes out and takes medication or gets a hair transplant or gets ill , then yeah, this site can be held liable. He is a MINOR.

So instead ,lets send him to his doctor. To be receding at age 16 is not the norm and there could be other issues.

Agreed with the above. OP your 16, you'll get a lot of conflicting advice from these forums. My advice, get off and enjoy life, come back in 4-5 years time if still worried.

Speak to parents, doctors etc. Your 18 and this isn't something to be on your mind right now. DO not even consider buying meds such as Spiro or Fin or even minox, you're still in puberty!

Perhaps you should read my first post before you start with the hostilities. I told him to wait until 18 before considering fin.
