Default Accidentally Plucked Out Hairs - Will They Grow Back?

Hey All:

Sometimes when my hair dries after a shower or after a sweaty workout, it tends to tangle within itself, creating small knots. It doesn't happen too often, but when it happens, and it bugs me. Usually it happens in the rearward area of my scalp, near the crown or just above it. When I run a brush thru my hair, the bristles of the brush get stuck in the knots in my hair, and I am forced to brush more aggressively than normal. I can feel the hairs being torn and/or plucked out --- and I just want to cry!

I am already a hair loss sufferer, and I am emotionally attached to every single hair I have on my head, so I don't want to lose more hair by brushing! Does anyone know if the torn and/or plucked out hairs will come back? Or are they gone for good?

Hairs that are broken mid shaft should start growing right away. If the hairs are pulled out closer to the follicle it could cause shock and you may need to wait a few months for it to start growing again. Healthy hairs should grow back. A weak, dying, hanging on by a thread hair might be gone forever. My suggestion is in the future if you get these tangles or knots use conditioner first and gently use a wide spaced brush to free the hairs. Remember Propecia helps many people slow down the hair loss.
