I'm looking for recommendations for transplant docs in the Los Angeles area.

My opinion (which is that of someone who has not had an HT but has consulted with most of the HT doctors in the Los Angeles area) is that there is no HT doctor in the Los Angeles area whom I would want to go to for such a procedure.

You should check with the IAHRS (iahrs.org) there has to be someone good in a city like L.A.
