Your hair shedding is probably just temporary. How many shed hairs approx. are you seeing per day?

Well i see many while shampooing. Also whenever i sweep my hand over head there are always some hair there. Yesterday i tried applying oil over the hair and it was catastrophic. There were almost 20 to 30 hairs.

According to an article on the American Academy of Dermatology Website, it's normal to lose between 50 and 100 hairs per day.

Of course that level of hair loss may not be considered normal for a person who already has lost 70% of their hair due to MPB. Did you have minor hair loss before you had your recent HT surgery?

    x33,

At five months post-op, your grafts should have all shedded by now yet it sounds by your words that you have a more advanced shed going on, meaning native hair shedding as well?

This could be from the minoxidil use and if you started low dose finasteride, that can potentially commence a shed cycle as well.

Did you ever use minoxidil before your procedure or is the first time using it?

Yeah i don't mind shedding the native hair as they are gonna shed anyway. But i want to retain the transplanted hair. I did use minoxidil for 7 or months before transplant but i wasn't effective.

Yep, I still think that it's the minoxidil.

Well, the good thing is that the follicles that have retreated into the resting phase will do just that, rest.

Then they will sprout again and you will have hair back....

Well i think it was the hair tonic i used. Do u think I should stop using minoxidil altogether and would it have any effect on my final outcome?

IMHO the shedding is a good initial sign that your follicles are responding to the active ingredient. It is not unusual for the shedding cycle to commence and eventually your follicles will resume the growth phase.

And no I do not think it will have an adverse effect on the final outcome.

The real question is, "Can you live with the shedding until the growth phase kicks in?"

Honestly, I think your going to be just fine but everything takes time before we can get to the finish line...

One last thing. Consult your doctor about whether or not to stop the minoxidil use. But as a personal choice, if you think you will continue to use it over the years to come, then why stop it. In other words, if you have a weak crown area and you respond well to minoxidil in that zone, then there is apparent future benefit for you to continue using it in that zone.

    Hope this makes some sense...
