Exclamation The Link Between Hairloss and Acne: Dairy a culprit?

°°°WARNING! SPECULATION AHEAD!°°°

There is a lot of talk about a link between dairy and acne, but you will also note there seems to be a lot in common between acne and hair loss. For instance, the side effects between Accutane and Finasteride have been compared many times on places like propeciahelp.com etc .

I won't go into it too much as I really am not that knowledgeable, but what I did want to point out was that apparently milk is taken from pregnant cows for whatever reason, and as a result they contain a high amount of hormones. These hormones are purported to encourage things such as acne, but in other people can have various other adverse effects.

Could it not be then that the increase in MPB in Japan was not linked to a Westernised diet (which isn't entirely true in and of itself), but rather an increase in dairy consumption?

Could there not be a link between the consumption of milk and other dairy products and hair loss?

I have found that drinking a lot of milk for gym (protein shakes) has increased my acne a lot, and could POTENTIALLY be the cause for an increase in miniaturised hairs I'm noticing around the hairline.

So for curiosity's sake, would people be willing to respond to this thread with their daily dairy consumption habits, and a brief look at their hairloss history? I won't do this as mine was clearly linked to Accutane, but if others would be willing to would be great.

If the comments support my hypothesis, then I think we could even organise a dairy-free challenge to see if there is any improvement with our hair.

Mix it with water instead.

I mix my whey protein with water and have it with some juice to increase the rate of absoprtion post-workout. However I have milk with my casein to prolong the rate of absorption, add calories, and fill me up a bit more, as I take the casein before going to bed and when I wake up.

And yes, I know there is a lot of talk about whey and casein being basically the same etc. But I just stick with it anyway.

On the subject of protein shakes though, aren't both whey and casein still dairy based supplements?

The acne is a result of your hormones because of the increase in testosterone, not milk.

I generally consume 2 to 3 8oz glasses of milk a day.

I have already concluded in my own mind that Dairy is another factor accelerating hair loss. As you have said the hormones in cow’s milk are not accustom to our bodies. Also milk consumption is primarily found in areas with the same rate of hair loss and subsequently not consumed in areas with lower rates of MPB. I have not consumed dairy for over a year now and upset stomachs have vanished ironic considering the research that suggests digestion tract irritation somehow follows hairloss victims.

Possibly something to your suggestion, certainly in my experience the very moment I stopped suffering from acne produced instantaneously from sugary food consumption, mpb began. Clearly hormonally connected and therefore potentially manipulatable.
