Default A drunken story

So as I sit here at 02:11AM and I will tell you that for the past week I have lived as a bald man.

And well...it has been strange. I was looking at myself last Friday in the mirror and decided maaaaaan...I am soooo sick of worrying about this shit...checking the forums every few hours to see if any news has been released about any new treatments, looking in mirrors every five seconds, being constantly depressed about something that I cannot control. So after about 15 minutes of staring at myself wondering whether I could go through with it or not. So EVENTUALLY I decided F*** IT! and shaved my head.

It was strange at first, seeing myself with no hair. However it did feel liberating, not having to look in the mirror every 5 minutes and having nothing to worry about. It was strange at first going around like it this and dayyyaaamn my head is coooold.

I sort of pull it off, luckily I have a well shaped head with no oddities. However, it just does not feel right, it makes me look much older and I grow out my stubble because lets face it, the completely bald look with a clean shaven face often looks ridiculous.

So what have I found out?

* As proud of myself as I am -shaving my head at 22, whilst I still have enough hair (with concealer) to appear as having ALMOST a full head of hair- going out on a night out and in public like this. Unfortunately I cannot accept myself like this. I DO NOT feel my self, however....I do feel like a BAD ASS. I have noticed less looks from girls....yes, but people seem more intimidated by me...not necessarily a good thing depending on how you look it, but its still fun, HA.

* It's fricken COLD (depends on where you live of course) but I live in Scotland which is ruthless.

* Less looks from girls, older appearence and more dominance.

* I'm still checking the forums everyday to see what news is about...

Conlusion

I am very glad that I tried this and I URGE you do at least give it a shot and see if you like it or not. It is liberating and kind of fun and nice not to have to be looking in the mirror all the time. I am not willing to stay like this, which shows that I will most likely never be able to come to terms with being a bald man. I will grow it and maybe keep it at a grade two or whatever. In the meantime I guess I will have to pray that somethings better comes around soon and that my hair loss does not progress too much more.

Anyway folks that's it, I though you should all now. I am only drunk now as I write this. I shaved my head sober which is even more amazing., Take from it what you want in gernal it has been a good thing.

Peace out!

Gratz, my dude. I bet it's a pretty liberating feeling. Now go smash some dimes with your grown man look.

BTW, I had the same feeling when I cut my bad ass mustache off ~month ago. Grew it all summer while I was bartending out at the lake. Stared in the mirror with the clippers for a good 5-10, then made the plunge - now I don't look like a 70s pornstar at my internship downtown.

I commend you my bald brother. I too have dreams of one day liberating myself from this curse called male pattern baldness. If I could just stabilize my hair loss and improve my skin, I'd put the 1'' to my dome without hesitation. I need to see what I will look like with a shaved head. I need to face my fears. Of course this would not be a surrender; far from it. I would still fight my hair loss tooth and nail, but it would bring me some degree of peace.

No body knows what the future holds. Important thing is you are the only one who cares about your hair loss. You, and only you, give others/society permission to make you feel bad about it.

SALUTE HOMIE!

More power to you! I also shaved my head for a number of years (3 or 4), and found it liberating, it's very convenient, and it feels amazing. It takes a little while to get used to your new appearance in the mirror, but you will get used to it. However, like you, I never felt "like myself" with a shaved head. I had a HT last year, and am delighted with the result.

That said, my best friend shaves his head, and he isn't even balding, he just likes the look. Some women really dig it.

Get yourself a nice wooly hat. All the best mate.

Grade A drunk typing, by the way. I saw "drunk" and expected this to look like a text you'd get at 2AM.

Lol yeah just need the hat now. Yeah the only problem is my crown is pretty thin so I couldn't really try a mahawk which sucks.

Fair play dude - Shave it and roll. Get on with life and get busy - Girls are attracted to personality and charisma. Be strong stick with the shave down as in the long run if you can embrace it you will be free from so much anxiety

Well done dude!!

Breaking Bad is a great show - i need to get series 3!!

TBH I dont think anyone that fights against hairloss should advocate this. Even though you are right in saying that it comes down on whether or not the person can embrace it.

I think for a lot of guys, hairloss makes them look shit.

Look at Prince William.

Why not ?

Breaking Bald is dealing with the process and looking for support with his decision. Fair play to him!! He has my respect for being able to shave down and attempt to move forward. I see no reason at all why this shouldn't be advocated

Women are not bothered about hair loss anywhere near as much as we hair loss sufffers think. Once you get a little more mature and wiser in life it becomes apparent that they are MUCH more interested in who you actually are and what you are about, not your hair.
