Default Going to start 0.25mg of Fin, once every 3 days

Last year, precisely on the 1st of September, I decided to bite the bullet and take propecia. I was taking 0.5mg once every 2 days . I encountered minor side effects from the first week (weaker morning erections) but otherwise things were going well until things got progressively worse after 4 months (January) and almost unbearably so by February (I couldn’t maintain an erection for longer than 60 seconds). The fact that these side effects occurred 5 months from taking the first pill made me realise that these side effects were as a result of the medication and not psychological (I knew about side effects before taking it). Interestingly my hair had thickened pretty well around the time my side effects became more and more noticeable (month 4-5). Thankfully I recovered fully and suffered no post-fin disorder.

I had updated my progress every now and then and is documented in this thread:http://www.baldtruthtalk.com/showthread.php?t=6023

So, 7 months after discontinuing finasteride, I am now going to give it another shot, this time I’ll take roughly 0.25mg once every 3 days. I will document any side effects I may encounter in this thread like the last thread. This will in essence by my finasteride diary. Should I develop the side effects I did previously I am going to discontinue this drug for good.

I hope this will help any others out there wanting to do the same.

you are exactly the type of guy that will generally get some benefits from fin. i.e People who get sides from it.

good luck with the regime.

Thanks. Yes ive also noticed that people that see an improvement tend to experience side effects.

I have never taken fin. I am considering taking the same approach you are. I'm going to get a full panel blood test including hormones and semen analysis done, as a precaution. I personally think everyone taking fin should do this to get baselines, as there is a chance your endocrine system could crash and you'd be stuck with persistent sides. Not trying to scare anyone, just suggesting to take every precaution necessary, it will give you peace of mind, or it will give me it at least lol.

From personal experience, my advice would be to not follow this regime. I am 19, my hairloss was not even bad and after taking 0.5mg/ every 3 days for about 8 months my hair got much worse. Not only did my shed hairs not return thicker, I believe I lost hair faster during this time (maybe my hair loss naturally picked up). I don't believe every 3 days is good for your system, keep it to a daily dose like I am now doing (0.25mg/daily). Even every 2nd day might be okay.

"Morning wood" is what happens when you wake up in the middle of a REM cycle or whatever. Technically, if I'm not mistaken, you shouldn't have morning wood if you wake up naturally since you'd be at the end of your cycle.

I only ever get them when woken abruptly. Otherwise I'm always getting enough sleep so I'm waking naturally or close to it after eight to nine hours sleep.

This can happen to people who take the recommended daily dose as well.

I take mine in the mornings and strong healthy penis, have sex once or twice a week depending how busy I get. How's your hair doing since 09-19-2011?
