Dear Father of mine
Dear Father,
Why did you give birth to me when you knew you had the MPB gene? I hate you and wish I was never born. People with MPB are like lepers and should either be shipped off to an island filled with other ugly people, or forced to never have children again.
This is just common sense.
Beautiful people = future. Baldness = misery, pain, and death.
NW3 is just one NW away.
With love,
Your fat, bald, and ugly son Highlander
NW1 or make sure to die at NW3

Seriously stop being overdramatic or sarcastic. You are not funny or clever, and you need professional help if you believe the things you say on these forums.

Highlander, like the above poster said -- you aren't funny, clever, witty, etc. You are just copying Scorpion. You're a total moron.

Did we clarify that Highlander and Scorpion aren't the same person?

I kind of think Highlander and Scorpion are the same person, but it makes no difference to me in that I'm not annoyed by these postings like some people are. Actually, I think Spencer handled the situation very well and showed a lot of forethought when he allowed Scorpion/Highlander to continue posting (and taking his call) despite the fact that many people wanted to have him banned. Although some of these posts can be a bit extreme, they really do illustrate the kind of devastating effect that hair loss can have on a person. I mean, I remember when Scorpion called in and I really felt for the guy. You could literally hear the depression and devastation in his voice; I often feel the same way, especially today since I lost a ton of hairs in the drain. Whether Highlander is the same person as Scorpion or not, you can almost feel the devastation and depression in his posts as well. Oftentimes when we are depressed and feel like our image as we know it is being permanently changed, then we have the tendency to not to think clearly and post things out of desperation. Hell, I can even be that way sometimes. Anyway, I really like that new section were added recently "Coping With Hair Loss" and "Hair Loss Rants". This way we can help each other out as we deal with this devastating disease of hair loss.

I think they are the same person as well but I don't care. If he is really this affected by his baldness he needs psychological help.
I hate that I'm balding. I look in the mirror and talk about it with my family, who doesn't understand, too much. However, I realize it's something I have little control over and cannot let it ruin my life. I am seeing someone professionally and this is one of the issues I talk about.
I think it would do people who are taking balding extremely hard a lot of good to seek psychological help.
I'm not trying to come off as better than anyone but these kinds of posts need to stop. They are infectious and can lead other people toward becoming this depressed or just piss off some people and create some of the tension I've seen. Honestly, I think professional help is crucial and I wouldn't advocate it unless I believed in it.

I actually tried therapy too but it unfortunately didn't do much for me. It was nice to talk about it with another person and I will concede that it did even make me feel better for a while. However, maybe several hours afterwards, I still get reminders of the conclusion that I keep coming back to: that a life with a full head of hair would be much better than a life without it. Unfortunately no amount of rationalizing will sway me from that conclusion, because believe me, I've tried. ThinningB420, you seem like a very sensible guy and you are right about a lot of the things that you say. However, it is just very hard for me to accept that in today's day and age, we have little control over something that affects all of our lives so greatly. I've had plenty of things that I didn't like throughout my life, and I worked extremely hard to change them. And I am prepared to move mountains to get my hair back, but unfortunately we're not given effective options to do so. That really frustrates me more than anything.

I hear your frustration. I'm a diffuse thinner and my hair looks terrible. I just want to shave it off. I'm not willing to risk the sides of fin so there is no real good option for me. Yes, I'm lucky I'm 28 and not totally bald like some but that doesn't make me feel any better. However, as my mom reminds me, you can't keep dwelling on something out of your control. At some point you need to just move on. I'm devastated that I won't find an attractive woman to marry because of my baldness. Yet, I also realize if I find the love of my life we both shouldn't care about things like that. So maybe I need to become less vain.
I try to be a very logical and rational person, but it's not really easy since I am a perfectionist at everything. Maybe going bald is the way I can overcome perfectionism and accept myself.
So it's not as cut and dry as I say it is, but that is why professional help is necessary for those struggling imo.

Wanting to look good means you're human, not vain.
