Default Finasteride and the (kind of) shed

I've been on Finasteride for probably two months now, and I've had something of an odd shed. It's unlike anything I've read on here before.

When I used to dry my hair with a towel, then rub my chest, some hairs would usually come off onto my body. Since starting fin, this never happens. No hairs ever fall out.

Oddly enough though, my hairline has been hit a fair bit by the introduction of Finasteride (in conjunction with Minox). My both temples have receded more rapidly than prior to taking the medication, and the front part of my hairline appears to be weakening slightly.

I just wanted to know what some of the people on this forum thought with regard to this. How long until I know whether or not Finasteride is working for me? I know people say it doesn't work well on the hairline, but surely there comes a point where it does work? Heck, people have even been talking on here about getting regrowth when starting.

tl;dr 1. Why is the hairline becoming worse with fin, and when does this stop? 2. This seems to contradict my hairs not falling out when drying hair

Oh, and no side effects so far. At what point do most people experience them?

I heard this is pretty normal in the beginning of treatment. It seems that the hairs go on a cycle, they fall and then new hairs grow back, stronger. Research it!
About the sides, nobody is going to be able to tell you how it's gonna be, other than their own opinions and experiences. People experience it in different ways. Some people just a bit, not noticeable, some people a lot, and in different times, i took it for 10 years and quite sure i experienced sides during this time but they didn't affect me much, until a few months ago, i had several issues with sides. so.. it's really hard to tell, everyone is different, times are different. You might not even notice them. Good luck

hmm I'm still not sure on the whole fin shedding thing... The hairline becoming worse and not recovering appears to be a fairly common scenario... Of course theres no way of knowing how you would be without fin obviously and this will always be the drugs get out clause!

I've been on it now for 7 months and my front part of my hair is so thin now. Infact i've shedded all over including the sides. I'd say it is more noticable at the front as this would have been a bit thinner to start with. Its very upsetting as I had thick and dense hair before starting fin. Just temple recession... Now after using finasteride I can see right through my hair under reasonable lighting

hating this MPB curse

Hey Highlander how's your hairline now? A shed affecting the hairline area is a very scary notion to me..my hairloss is not that far gone yet...basically only the one temple I feel is "unacceptable"

No real changes. My temples are holding up well. Like I said, losing a bit of ground, but plenty more to give. I'm optimistic, and really hope I get some regrowth. I'm adding Niz in a few days when it arrives, so that is something else to look forward to.
