The patient had prior hair transplant surgery performed elsewhere and was left with significant scarring. Dr. Epstein was able to transplant into this scar, using FUE grafts, and thus avoiding making another donor site scar.

A while ago you stated you would start trying the autoplucking technique with beard hairs and ACell. How has that worked out? What are the results you have obtained?

While it is still a bit early to make any conclusions, I have been less than impressed to date with the use of plucked beard hairs placed in ACell. To date, the best donor hairs are still scalp hairs taken by FUE, which can provide excellent coverage of scars.
