Contradictory advice from doctors, what should I do?
    Hey guys,

I posted here around a month ago (had no answers but I don't mind)

First of all sorry for my english, i am not a native english speaker.

The reason I'm coming back here is because today I saw a doctor to reniew my finasteride prescription, and basically the guy was doubtful on the fact that I was losing my hair. He pulled it and looked at it, and said that he wasn't sure.

Since he didn't see me 6 months ago when I started finasteride, he can't tell if it's any effective, but from my POV there has been 0 change. He said that I may just have a "diffuse" hair implantation, and that I may just be like this without losing them.

So I wonder if I really need to take finasteride. I have no side effects being sexually active but I don't want to take a medecine if I don't need to especially this one.

What do you think? Any advice?

If you don't know if you are losing your hair, then get diagnosed by a dermatologist. No need to take fin or do anything if you aren't losing your hair. I wouldn't be.

According to your previous post here at Bald Truth:

27yo male - father NW3 (65 yo), grand father was NW4, mothers side no problem. I have thin hair and I have always had, as far as I can remember, a large cowlick (or “double cowlick”). I can remember friends making fun of it at like 14 years old. I do not think the cowlick has evolved or anything since then. On the front hairline I don’t think I have a problem, maybe a mature hairline? You tell me.

You may not have inherited any significant hair loss. Check hair restoration doctors in your country to see if you can find any close to you that use the HairCheck system. It's good to get some hair mass number to be kept on file. Do HairCheck again in a few years and compare the numbers. If your hair mass drops significantly in that time frame, then consider getting back on meds. Perhaps in a few years there will be more effective treatments.

If you're ever in the Atlanta Georgia area, give us a call and we can do a HairCheck at no charge.
