My opinion on which minoxidil to buy..
So, I have spend a ton of money on different brands and different types of minoxidil. I have probably tried everything on minoxidil.com also.

For efficacy probably the best thing you can buy is something that is easy to use, rather than a higher % which is annoying to apply.

The best things to use would be whatever is cheap and easy to apply. Since that will be more effective also.

The best thing I have ever found that I love is...good ol' Rogain FOAM. The foam gets less hair count results in the studies...sort of. It's a pitty the foam is somewhat expensive in a way.

What I love about it is:

Super easy to use. You CONTROL how much you want in certain areas. Very very easy to use. Very convenient.

Biggest thing: It makes your hair LOOK better with it in and when you wash it out. It's like a hair conditioner that works extremely well.

Cons: Expensive and somewhat less effective.

I use it in combination with retin-a on some days though. But still. It's so easy to use I could use it 3 times a day and it won't bother me or mess up my hair like all other crap do. Other stuff I might skip since I'm going to sleep or going out or something. This works great.

Secondly I think Dr. Lee sells some good cheap minoxidil that works just as well. I don't know if it thickens the hair as much though.

But I just gotta say... the Rogaine foam makes my hair look way better.

I have been using the foam for sometime now and unlike all the other forms of minoxidil it suits my scalp and hair.

I agree it leaves hair with a general manageable thickness too. win, win.

I get my foam from here : http://minoxidil-direct.co.uk/Rogaine_Foam.htm as we struggle in the UK to get, however i i feel its cheap, compared to the standard liquid brand.

How much does it cost you out of interest?

Most of my patients using the foam say that it is much easier to control the amount that is applies and gives the ability to put it exactly where you want it. Also that it works well with Toppik. Although, I am sure there are people out there that would swear that it made there situation worse and that liquid Minoxidil is better. I have many patients who use Dr. Lee's Minoxidil formulas.
