3,760 grafts by Dr Jerry Cooley
This patient has type IVA hair loss and was started on finasteride. We performed 3,760 FU grafts (1-935, 2-1,827, 3-758, 4-240) totalling 7,823 hairs. His hair is extremely fine which has the benefit of looking very natural when transplanted but requires more grafts to look full. ACell was used on the grafts, which we find makes growth more consistent and predictable. Photos are before, immediately post-op, and one year later.

Great result Dr. Cooley. Would never know that this man underwent HT. Nice to hear that Acell is already being used in practice. Hope the rest of the Acell studies are coming along nicely.

I have heard that occassionally a patient will not shed their grafts two weeks after the procedure. I was wondering if using Acell in this manner increases the likely hood of the hairs not shedding and the transplanted follicles not going into the 'hibernation' period that they usually do.

    Thanks for your time.

Unfortunately, that has not been the case. The grafts come in nice and full, but over the usual timeframe. Thanks for the question.

Dr. Cooley, I don't mean to derail your thread about this case, but I wonder if you might provide us with an update on when you expect to share the results of your tests with ACell and plucking. Also, was plucking used to harvest any of the grafts in this case?

    Thank you.
