Balding at 15? New member needs advice.

Hey, this is my first time on a forum site . I am here because my hair around my temples is thinning. I want to figure out if my hairline's maturing or actually receding. I am a 15-year-old boy and will be turning 16 in March. I've attached a couple of pictures if you'd like to see my hair (all of these pictures have been taken with flash). The flash picture of my crown is not a very credible picture, the way the picture looks on my laptop screen makes my crown look like it's thinning terribly but my crown has a cowlick which makes the top half go forward and the bottom half go back instead of growing out in a spiral formation. My hair is also your typical Filipino male's hair type; fine (not thin) and thick (except around my temples). I finally met my father for the first time in November, and he is fully bald well into his 50s. My grandfather is getting up there too, living at around 90 - he also still has a great amount of hair considering his age. I know I will soon go bald one day, due to my father being bald - but I'm afraid that I will become bald before my 30s or maybe before my 20s! I am hoping that my hairline is only maturing and that I am not balding at this age yet. If I am balding, do you have any advice - should I see my doctors about it? Please help me if you can, thank you

    More Need for Advice

Can somebody also explain why my left temple is thinning noticeably quicker than my right temple?

      Hi Rolanup,
I started loosing my hair at a young age also (18). By 19 I had a noticeable hair loss on my crown. I was horrified. I started using minoxidil (now its called rogaine) and the hair on my crown slowly filled in, but not all. But enough that I could hide it. I started using it in front also and it significantly slowed down my hairloss. I am 54 now and my hairline has receded a total of 2 inches in 35 years. My brother who started losing his hair at the same age as me is now bald. Rogaine works but you have to use it twice a day. consistency is VERY important. And also like you, the left side of my hairline receded more than my right side. Eventually the left side stopped receding and the right side caught up. Now they are the same.

Thank you Doug! Im glad to see that there are actual ways to help fight hair loss. I wish it were as easy as a pill or something but that’s life. I wanted to know if it affected you poorly in your life or if being insecure about it is just a bad mindset. Also I would love to know if you think my hairlines just maturing or if I’m balding, and if I am balding - do you think I should consult a doctor?
